The brief for this home was simple. The homeowners, a young couple with two daughters, wanted a space that was clutter-free and light, yet still exuded cosiness and warmth. “They emphasised the need for free, wide-open spaces that would accommodate their girls’ antics and acrobatics, and also be the perfect place to host family and friends,” says Ajmera.

The front door opens into a deep passage with a dark wood-panelled ceiling. “The passage carries you into a living room blessed with ample ventilation and sunlight, thanks to a balcony on either side,” says Bhavsar.
Adds Ajmera, “When doing a home, we always ensure that the final product is a true reflection of its owners. In this home, we decided to maintain a neutral shell and channel the owners’ personalities through colourful art, accessories and cushions.”
The living room is a cocoon of pure white, with even the wallpaper playing to the muted colour scheme. “We used pristine white marble through the passage and living area, and employed neutral wallpaper for some visual variety,” says Ajmera.
A soft grey loveseat, cobalt sofas and a printed fabric bench add cheery pops of colour to the white shell, while brass and glass accent tables lend a shiny metallic edge. The floor-to-ceiling glass doors reveal potted plants outside that bring nature into the living room.
“The cushions and art bring in fun and colour. Everything in the home has a special meaning. The art frames in the living room, for instance, were purchased by the clients on their travels, and represent some of their favourite music artists,” Bhavsar says.
The living and dining layouts are fluid and seamlessly flow into one another. The printed bench demarcates without dividing the spaces.
“The clients wanted plenty of greenery, so we peppered the home with plants. The pockets of foliage not only act as air purifiers, but also add instant freshness and warmth,” Ajmera says.

One of the balconies, featured here, hosts a garden that transforms the compact balcony to a verdant retreat. A wooden recliner and matching table lend an earthy, organic vibe.
A short passage leads to the bedrooms. A dramatic monochrome print draws the eye, and a sleek cabinet, topped with a vase of flowers and metallic artefacts, adds character.
The master bedroom is outfitted in dove grey. “For the bedrooms, we selected delicate floral wallpaper patterns. The master bedroom features a lovely grey cherry-blossom design that complements the rest of the grey-and-white colour scheme. We finished the sliding wardrobes with full-length mirrors to blur boundaries and make the space seem larger,” says Bhavsar.
The daughters’ bedroom, decorated with pink-on-white floral wallpaper, exudes a playful, feminine charm. “We used watercolour-patterned wallpaper on all the walls to brighten the space and give it a fun spin. It was also a reminder to the little girls not to scribble on the walls,” notes Bhavsar.
All the furniture has been finished in white, giving the room an airy, light-kissed look. The sleeping area holds a bunk bed with steps that double as storage, while the wooden flooring brings in some warmth.
The guest bedroom channels a shabby-chic air, thanks to the dainty blue-on-white floral wallpaper and white bed – the latter a refurbishment of the clients’ original bed, painted white to match the room’s palette.
