Where’s your best private hang-out place at home? I bet most of you will say, the bedroom. A bedroom is a restful retreat, a place to refresh and rejuvenate. It can also serve as a wonderfully secluded spot to read in or have long intimate conversations with a loved one. With the inclusion of comfortable chairs, sofas and stools, the private bedroom can double as a social lounge too, where resting and entertainment both can be made possible. A boudoir, in its old sense, was exactly that: a bedroom with a sitting area, designed for personal relaxation and small informal social engagements.

1. The armcahairs set in front of the window suit the tailored elegance of this room. Plenty of light streaming in creates an appealing environment and makes the sitting zone a perfect place to enjoy a cuppa or a conversation.

2. This bedroom has a whimsical, cosy setting with its woody interiors and dainty curtains that can be pulled down to create a subtle partition between the sleeping area and the small seating space. The beige sofa complements the neutral furnishings, and its red-and-gold brocade cushions match those kept on the bed.

3. A semi-bedroom, semi-entertainment room, evidenced by the elevated sleeping zone in the far back and a niche created in the centre of the steps for seating, with a large carpet placed below. This expansive space is ideal for watching a movie with plenty of friends or family; also a nice reclusive place to enjoy some time with the Xbox.

4. Placing chairs close to the foot of the bed allows ample space for the creation of a seating nook. The two armchairs and an ottoman fit right within the carpeted area and still leave enough space between the seats and the wall opposite, for people to move around.

5. This large bedroom is able to accommodate a big bed, a club chair and an ottoman, giving the room a relaxed, laid-back vibe. The low bed has a tufted extension, which can be used for extra seating when required.

6. I like the sophistication and comfortable ambience of this room. The seating opposite the bed, drenched in the same hues as the bedding, allows the user to sit up and indulge in chitchat or simply recline on it. The glass-encased bedroom offers panoramic views of the verdant outdoors. Wouldn’t you like to settle down here for hours?

7. This bay window is a nice, cosy spot to gaze out at the greenery outside. This corner has a casual, carefree vibe; what’s more, the area below the seating also doubles as a storage space. All those in favour of bay window seating, say aye!

8. The use of these two light chairs and stool is a smart idea, as these pieces are easily moveable and do not permanently block the area in front of the bed. Upholstered in black, their modern make and sleek design give a smart edge to the room.
9. This space with a large bed and lavish seating almost looks like a bedroom-cum-living room. A plump sofa, two chairs and an ottoman in the centre allow the owner to hold a small and intimate gathering in their bedroom with ease.
