10 Indian Kitchens on Houzz That Evoke Envy
Here are kitchens so beautiful they'd make you think about remodelling yours
One of my favourite childhood memories is of me sitting on the window ledge of our kitchen as my mother prepared rice pudding, my favourite dish. I still remember that, as the aroma of the dish filled the air and I got increasingly hungry and impatient to get my hands on it. Everyone has childhood memories associated with the kitchen, it’s the place where the magic happens. Even celebrity chef Rachael Ray once said, “Good food and a warm kitchen are what make a house a home.” And as an ode to this favourite spot of ours, here are 10 striking kitchen designs we can’t stop admiring.
2. Monochrome done right
This kitchen by Architecture Brio is a lesson on the magic of monochrome. The mixing of plain grey of the cabinets with patterns on the countertops, cushion seats and the floor adds subtle depth to the room. The metallic surface of the appliances and drawer handles, the spotlight pendant lights and the distressed chairs impart a hint of an industrial chic look to this kitchen.

3. Simply serene
For this gorgeous open-floor-plan-kitchen next to a terrace, Fulcrum Studio has gone for a minimalist design that mixes a modern kitchen island with wooden cabinets on top. The wooden breakfast table adds a touch of surprise and warmth to the otherwise stark, black and white set up.
The sharp lines of the materials and the clean, modular layout maximises the impact of the view of this space. All the clutter is hidden inside the cabinets.

4. Elegant affair
A kitchen with a simple layout gets a plush finish by adding carefully selected accessories. For instance, the traditional handles in white and brown enhance the look of the fresh white cabinets. Similarly, a burst of colour is provided by the printed wallpaper used as the backdrop in the open shelves at the bottom.
What I love about this kitchen by Aum Architects is the way small details add up to an impressive, harmonious whole.
The showstoppers are the dual-duty cabinet (yes, it works as a table too), the tasteful chairs with graphic upholstery and the stained glass pendant light.

5. Smart space
A sitting space, a set of cabinets, a countertop with a stove and sink, a pantry attached with ovens – this kitchen by Savio & Rupa Interior Concepts nicely packs everything into a small area. The use of glass as the base of the countertop helps to enhance the visible open space. The rough texture of the stone wall is a fitting backdrop as it contrasts well with the smooth kitchen surfaces and furniture.

6. Room with a view
The huge glass windows keep this kitchen flooded with natural light along with providing a breathtaking view. And the interior, again by Savio & Rupa Interior Concepts, matches up to the serene beauty outside. The look is kept clean by using complimentary shades for the accent cabinets and the floor as they contrast against the white on the walls and cabinets. The dual surface kitchen island serves as a breakfast table, bar and a cooking station.

7. Old meets new
With an abundance of rich, wooden cabinets and deep, textured tiles, here is a kitchen by Moriq Interiors that brings back the old world charm. The use of darker shades, be it the wood or the tiles, gives warmth to the room. White has been smartly used on the horizontal surfaces to offset the dark colours. Blue tiles near the cooktop as well as the latest gadgetry add a zest of contemporary to an otherwise traditional space. The Moroccan theme streams subtly through the stained glass on the door and the blue tiles on the walls.

8. Pop of colour
While most of this space by Kumar Moorthy & Associates is kept neutral with beige-coloured wood and tiles, colourful bursts are introduced as surprise elements. The bright orange table clubbed with green chairs form the accent pieces. The printed tiles on the wall next to the stove and the rug on the floor bring in striking patterns.

9. Class act
This space has glamour written all over it – look at the crystal chandelier, the caramel and white tiles with abstract patterns and the glossy finish. The traditionally designed table in rich brown wood used instead of a regular island adds to the classic look of this Pune kitchen.

10. Refreshing blue
This kitchen is beautiful for its simplicity. Instead of one element shouting for attention, the whole setup with powder blue furniture and vintage-patterned tiles comes together to create a pleasant view, like a throwback to the ‘70s. The addition of a park bench and a table as a breakfast counter is a rather innovative idea. See how the curves of the table’s leg match with those of the tiles. Love this kitchen by FADD Studio!

Clear straight lines and plain surfaces – this open-floor-kitchen by Arth Design Build projects the subtle charm of minimalist design. The parallel placement of the picnic bench style dining table adds to the whole look. However, it is the cabinets in pastel shades that transform this zone into a picturesque corner.
