Vertical?? Instead if horizontal. I like both. I think this is so pretty maybe do it in a room that more people will see or spend time in... You can do a headboard in a similar pattern for the wood effect too.

This headboard is an option instead of back wall in wood planks...if you do a back wall in wood then a metal or fabric headboard would coordinate.
