Design criteria…I wanted to live with all my art, family heirlooms and books. Everything you see has a story…a memory for me. How to make it all work together in 1250 square feet of space was my biggest challenge.
Edit, edit, edit. The layers remaining…a very comfortable, coaster-free and cozy place to call home.

A three-story beach house is what coastal living is all about…casual yet stylish. Every room in the house enjoys scenic views, and the porches take full advantage of the ocean breezes. Featured in Decor Magazine. Interior design by Tracery Interiors. I worked on this project while at Kenneth Lynch & Associates.

Remodeling and adding on to a classic pristine 1960’s ranch home is a challenging opportunity. Our clients were clear that their own sense of style should take precedence, but also wanted to honor the home’s spirit. Our solution left the original home as intact as possible and created a linear element that serves as a threshold from old to new. The steel “spine” fulfills the owners’ desire for a dynamic contemporary environment, and sets the tone for the addition. The original kidney pool retains its shape inside the new outline of a spacious rectangle. At the owner’s request each space has a “little surprise” or interesting detail.

Asian-Contemporary guest bedroom with original built-in headboard/bookcase posed a bit of a design quandary. Dark mocha walls, honey colored oak floors, crisp white plantation shutters helped lend to the Asian flair. Contemporary chairs and end table and black/white photography, and white Barbara Cosgrove lamp complete the room.
