Hi, I love the look of marbles as kitchen counter tops but am hesitant because of the problems with staining. There are lots of vitrifed glazed floor tiles which give beautiful marble look. Is it advisable to use them as kitchen counter tops? Since they come in 4x2 ft size, the number of joints will be less. Will they be chemically safe around food? Thanks in advance

Hi, you should opt for a darker shade to compliment both, the light counter top and the wooden flooring. In my opinion, you should go for grey coloured shutters as it will give a sleek and modern touch to the kitchen. have attached a couple of pics for your reference.

Mukti, From what you described, it seems you need a water softener than a hydrophobic coating. Salt based softeners are good for these issues.
