Yes! Well... it depends how you are defining interior design. Are you thinking about finishes and furnishings? Or about the design of the interior space; how spaces relate to one another, circulation, flow, function? If you are speaking of design, and not decoration, please consult with an interior designer at the same time as the architect, or before. In my experience, interior designers think on a smaller, function based level; architects are about the big picture. An interior designer should ask you how you live. This question helps to guide design because they will consider your particular needs. Also, consult with a kitchen and bath designer before finalizing house plans. Most times, interior designers (and kitchen and bath designers) work with what they are given. Sometimes it is a fixed space. Sometimes a wall or two can be taken down. And we do the best we can with what we've got. BUT, many times, a designer dealing with interior spaces wishes they were consulted before plans were set in stone (so to speak). Sometimes, it is the little things that make a big difference in function.

Hi, this is a ongoing project of mine which has a duplex living and dining area. Architecture and Interior Design field is full of infinite ideas and possibilities. This is all subjective depends on various factors like budget, requirements, context, culture, lifestyles and many more. Specifically in this project of mine, the client was a 50 yr. old businessman who has a small family of four including a son and a daughter. He wanted to renovate his ancestors house while maintaing the dignity and family values of his grandfathers. When we asked what do you want from us, he said 'I want a simple and sophisticated house. ' and this minimalistic design was our answer. He loved it for the very first time and replied ' Yes, this is what I want.' The next would be to waterproof the top again, keeping in mind the soil and the constant contact with water. Once these things are done, you need to locate were it is you want the lawn and ensure you have access to a drainage within or at best near it the area. sararahim123 What constitutes an adequate illumination level varies from person to person. What exactly do you require illuminated? If its simply ambient light you would have tiny lights as shown that throw light on the stairs itself. If a bit more is required you could consider adding a railing with a light under. If general illumination is what you are going after, but in a muted way, would suggest wall scones that throw light upwards onto the ceiling, diffusing the light.
