The new apartment that we bought comes with a front open (sides closed with walls) balcony attached to the living area. The builder provided half raised glass rails which we feel may not be safe with a 5 year old at home. Due to safety reasons, we might end up closing the balcony. I wish to get the best of balcony in terms of fresh air and sun light when needed, plants, good seating arrangements etc in spite of closing it. What do you think is the right options of closing the balcony ? Would it look good if I keep sliding big full length French windows and have half raised metal rails outside ? Or is it better to raise half walls and build windows on top of it?
