Slowly decorating our living room, and struggling how to style this corner where the TV is. Any ideas appreciated. I've included pictures from the rest of the room
Have you considered adding a cupboard and shelves in both alcoves? If it’s not in budget or you don’t like that, in any case I would add a low back chair in that corner so it’s angled towards the sofa and not blocking the tv (with a little round tray table etc). Can you pull both sofas away from the walls by a few inches and move the footstool in front?
i’d consider painting both the skirting board under the tv and the radiator in the wall colour.
Add art over the sofa, perhaps a basket for the logs, and if a floor lamp would go by the sofa opposite the fire, it would be good to layer the height of things. A rug would be good to zone the seating area
Thank you for sharing your project, really love the fireplace with the the raw beautiful wood on display.
Some great advice already posted from the Houzz community. Whom inspire us continuously.
Some further guidance for you:
- Agree: Symmetry is key either side of your fireplace to showcase all your interior items as well as further emphasise that beautiful natural wood
- From the photos you have sent, it looks like your natural style preferences are a fusion of Scandinavian, Modern, Mid-Century Modern with a touch of vintage accents.
- A tip to elongate your ceilings is to paint the skirting boards the same colour as the walls (in the contrasting finish or in the same finish) If your walls are all the same colour, or you can do this only on a painted feature wall.
- Enclosed a sketch to render image for you, which highlights not necessarily your style - but how textured glass can be customised and used to make the space appear larger either side, and in addition how a feature wall panelling in a neutral tone, with a reflective surface can open up the space further. Also note how the furniture can be arranged to layer it around the fireplace to align the symmetry play further.
- Think about the introduction of a subtle colour in your accessories, decor (see the mood board images below) These boards are similar to the profile of your current design, a beautiful green, navy or blue with a slight gold accent would look stunning in your space.
Hope these design suggestions help you, please keep us posted, we would love to see the final results.
