One of the kitchen designers is providing bakelite for kitchen cabinets material, I feel it would be good to use this material since the area is prone to termites thus using wood is not beneficial. Can anyone provide me any downsides of this material?

Dr Gautam, We usually avoid using MDF in kitchen due to its screw holding strength. We woul recommend BWP ply as the base material. However some finishes do require MDF/HDF to be used as a base.
