Help choosing a wall colour

Hi all, im looking for advise on wall colours for our living room. Having touble uploading a pic but we have the habitat jackson green velvet sofas due to arrive soon and so far have bought a beige rug and plan to buy a glass and gold round coffee table. The room has a victorian style fire place and some minimalist whire cabinetry. Its a small south facing room with one 4x3ft window. We really want a cosy feel but without being too dark. Would love some ideas!

Hiya so with the sofa you have chosen i would maybe go with one of these two looks, its hard to suggest without knowing how much naturaly light you get so i would say if you get a lot of natural light you could very easily go for the more green look or if you get a limited amount of natural light i would go with the white look theyre both really cosey but also really well put together and give a very fresh modern look. i know your sofa green is maybe a little more of an olive green than this but the elements and over all scheme will still work beautifully with your colours.

Why would you want to do this? Is this for a child's bedroom? Even though it sounds like a lively idea, I think it would be disturbing and it would distract from any sort of decor that you're hoping to add to the room to finish it. If you want to do a multi-colour scheme, why not do a striped effect on one wall. Horizontal stripes would be more soothing than vertical ones. I always suggest that people purchase their bedding before they choose wall colours. Look for bedding that incorporates a number of colours which will inspire the paint treatment.

Hi. Since you have such contemporary lines with the linear use of windows, I think your look is contemporary, but with so many windows, you still want a connection to the outdoors. My suggestion depends on whether you want to blend in with your surroundings, or make a statement. If you want to make a statement, I'd stay with a stark white, to contrast the sharp blue. Then use bluestone cut in a random pattern, to play off the blue roof, but keep an organic feel with the movement of the stone. If you want to blend in more with your area, then go with a mid-range gray color on the walls. It will tone down the contrast, and still stay contemporary. Not a dark charcoal, but not a dove gray. I attached a Gibraltar Gray from Lowes, or you might like a little lighter gray. Benjamin Moore has a bit softer gray: Cape May Cobblestone. Good luck! Please post your choices.

Hiya,

I love the idea of a green sofa a wonderful choice to make a statement in the room! I love the options that Naturally Allard has given above and I would advise the same, I personally would opt for an off white with perhaps a slight undertone of green - Lick, Coat and F&B do an amazing range of neutral colours with very low VOC's toxins which is always a bonus. With the more neutral walls you could bring the green together with tones through art work, soft furnishings and interior accessories. I would also consider, depending on the style of course and your personal preference perhaps adding a touch of dark leather for interest and additional texture in the scheme - stools or storage trunks?

With regards to making the room feel cosy, I would definitely focus on lighting across the space, even though the room would be a bright colour, adding soft glow lighting in combinations of floor lights, uplighters behind furniture or in plants will add cosiness in the evenings and darker times of the year.
