agree with Rupal. One floor option makes the place look larger and keeps the flow. If you wish to differentiate you should only do it in the master bedroom with wooden flooring and in the kids with vinyl or stone or any tile of your choice. Not doing too many floor finishes would also prevent the place from being broken up into different areas that need a separate look and while that look would compliment all the elements in it, you would have to care to see that it doesnt jar the other elements in the house. So for all practical design purposes I think its a good idea to stick to a single neutral flooring element that would compliment the look of each area.

@corner Stone designs. sorry if I had given an impression it mud slinging. but objectively speaking the suggestion to go for a chimney just because someone asked for it instead of addressing the real issue us not what I intended to do. one has to understand all the negatives as well veggie going in for a decision . just like you have the right to suggest there is nothing wrong in pointing out the issues in the proposed solution. none of us are internet warriors but most of us are "sold" items that we will never need in our life by creating an illusion. Hello Rahul, limiting to your query on granite - It is quite a beautiful, natural and hard material. For applications in kitchen, store and balcony they would do good. There are some points you should consider for granite application - - Granite usually occur in dark shades so consider the lighting in the area of application. - Ask the vendor for iron content in any natural stone for avoiding rust marks. - The process of application and polishing is cumbersome but thank god in India, craftsmen are easily available. - Do not go for a elaborate gloss polish to avoid skidding/slippery floors. - It is also advisable to re-polish/reseal them every 3-5 years.
