Since you do not wish to change the flooring, bed and wardrobe I would suggest that you go for a colour change only with brighter ceiling lighting. You may add one accent wall as a highlight or wallpaper. Choose softer, subtle or pastel shades for a sober look. Furthermore try extending the study desk below the window area for better natural lighting.

Thank you Solids and Voids! Those tips are very useful. I shall try and implement them☺️ I’m open to changing the flooring on a budget, vinyl or any other type. But not sure of the colour and patterns and the ideal curtains to go with it.

Please specify your budget to make appropriate suggestions. Would recommend to change the asbestos sheet ceiling first as that's a health hazard. You can get the floor painted as well.

My budget is probably 10k coz it’s a temporary solution to make the room livable! There are major wall reconstructions in the pipeline.

You should change your wall colour. And remove the palmate on the bad . Change your cupboard polish and used light colour rugs. And go with simple study table means modern study.. because your floor colour is to dark you with the light furniture . Change your curtain.

I have the following suggestions:

1. Change your curtains. You can order some beautiful curtain sets from "Yellow dwelling" according to your budget.
2. IMO, the red oxide is a beautiful traditional floor which has a nostalgia factor as these are extremely rare these days. You can dress up your floor with a nice kilim rug/carpet. But for that you'll have to check some options online as they're a bit pricey
3. Also, TBH your room needs a major decluttering process as that's the cheapest way to give your room a "makeover". Change your bedcovers too. Get rid of those tacky stickers from your furniture. Order some classy table lamps or floor lamps from IKEA (budget friendly) and you're good to go.
4. Not sure if applying a fresh coat of paint would be within your budget but that would work wonders for this room.

Looking everything is in dark theme which is not replace that is fine. Now you have to make a combination of the same colour in the light theme so that colour will be balanced between each other.

Changing the wall color would help. Highlight a wall with a darker color or go for a modern style wallpaper. Also, bring in some greenery. This would be a great addition. Adorn the corners of your rooms with large indoor plants. As the room looks a bit dark, it would be better if you could replace those windows with larger french windows with a window seat. Also, choose a stylish rug for the floors.
