Our new guest bath is needing a glass enclosure for bathtub/shower. I would love any input from those that have a hinged screen. (glass door that pivots open and is about half the width of the tub). We have installed a rainshower head. Thanks!
The challenge with what you propose is the stress the hinges and the movement will exert on the stationary panel. If you do not mind having a pole to anchor it to the ceiling as well as to the wall and tile, you should be fine...providing there is enough space for this panel to swing out into the bathroom (code mandates shower enclosures swing out. Swinging in as well is an option of course). Good luck!
Before you commit to the door, consider carefully how it will affect ventilation/humidity, access for cleaning the shower, etc. After spending a small fortune on a frameless hinged door, I came to appreciate the merits of a nice curtain!
I agree with other statement and rethink hinges. For this type you should consider sliding rail. You can view my other site Bradford Hardware that carries specialty high spec hardware for shower enclosures. The Miami uses sliding rail system for glass enclosures http://www.houzz.com/projects/219939/MWE-SHOWER-SYSTEM-MIAMI The system can be customized according to your specifications. Made in Germany. Hope this helps.
