I think the answer to your question depends where you are located combined with what are the traditional building methods of the area and available skill. In my part of the world, the San Francisco Bay Area, seeing brick buildings is unusual as it can be costly to make them seismically safe. If one happens to have a real brick wall or walls, it can be nice to expose and clean it to make it a feature as it is seen infrequently. Some of the brick construction here is done as a veneer over wood framing. If detailed property it can be convincing, if not, it can just look like it is a thin veneer just pasted on another wall. Seismic concerns aside, brick construction can be seen as durable and long lasting. The thickness and weight of brick adds to that perception.

Check with your local brick supplier. Most of them sell a thin brick that goes on just like tile (just use a tile mastic adhesive). It doesn't make near the mess as using using full size brick so it works well in existing spaces. A word of caution: The brick tiles do cost significantly more than full size bricks. Reclaimed wood ,use pallets you could take apart and nail them up .Could be free if you look on Craig's list for free pallets

I think i'd use subtle blues and/or greens against that brick, which i would use a sealer on to bring up the color a bit. White would be rather boring on the windows i feel, i'd use a darkish muted red or charcoal maybe for this detail. Such a pity to adopt boring western color codes when you have such a fabulous tradition for color in India. You don't have to go crazy on flashy color and can adapt it to a more modern feel. Very cute little house, i love it's details.
