The lamp looks high for that spot and the shade is too small for it. If you need something that high, perhaps consider a floor lamp?

I like the lamp base, but it needs a bigger shade, and a bigger table and space to sit in.

Art of any genre looks better framed and not so close together, in my opinion. The lamp is beautiful, but the shade is too small. I would take the whole lamp to a quality lamp and shade store. The person there will have a better idea of what shade your lamp needs and may have a good inventory of possibilities to work with.

So, the lamp doesn’t match but it is unique and a statement. Going with the premise you’d want to keep the lamp: I’d get a dark trunk to use as a table, since it would be slightly lower but give you more surface space (which both would balance the lamp and allow it to function as a better side table). For the lamp, I’d go with a larger shade that was between sea green and the palest leaf green on the lamp base. New green and ivory slip colors for the pillows to tie it in.

If you just want a lamp that works for the space and less steps: something with a rounded ivory or dark base and a proportional woven drum lamp shade would be ideal.

I'm sorry, but I think the whole vignette is off balance and ill-arranged. Let me see if I can do something with it. Back in a bit.

That lamp needs to be on a taller table--a regular height table--and a longer one. The lamp just overpowers that table.

It does need a larger shade as it’s a tall lamp. I would do something with a more rounded base though.

Better Larry is in the living room, then acting as Lurch in the bedroom or hallway.

Our entry is too small for Larry. I want to think of him as a work of art. Anyway, I do like groveraxle’s arrangement. I can work with that. The lamp suggestions were great too. Thanks again for your help.

That's the spirit! Larry has a story that makes that bachelor all the more interesting. Larry can start a conversation when guests visit. That's what real art (or real objects) can do, and its something that décor from Chinese sweatshops can never do.

How do you want this room to feel?
Nothing feels connected. The lamp is disproportionate and dated. However, the replacement depends on your answer.

The lamp base is beautiful , go for a drum shape shade at least 20 inch in diameter in a Black or darker red shade plain fabric not shiny. Position the lamp on a lamp table in the corner of the room.
