I have a large and old mosaic flooring (concrete based) in the living room. It has developed a horrible crack right at the entrance. kindly suggest possible options aimed at avoiding re-flooring. I have attached a pic to demonstrate the severity.
Your terrazzo flooring is one of the most durable floors but they need to be cleaned and sealed with a clear penetrating sealer to enhance their appearance and to prevent wear and tear. This is a hairline crack, simply sand the area with 80 grit paper, fill the crack with white portland cement, let dry, sand again with 200 grit paper, once satisfied apply concrete sealer.
Thanks for your response. I have tried this multiple times. Took the help of a professional who even attempted hand held polisher as well. Please provide additional advice if any. Thanks again in advance
If you have tried polishing it, then the crack seems to be across the entire cross section of the terrazzo or at least to a significant depth. In which case there is little we can do about it. You can fill the crack and 'the crack only' with epoxy resin to prevent widening of the crack.
