I got epoxy and it didn't double the cost of the job. I think the reason is because the installers wanted to use it. It is a relatively new product and some people are reluctant to try something new. The installers did have to come back twice to finish the job because it needs to be done in steps. Some installers want to finish quickly and be gone. Time is money. Our installers were working in the area and just rotated through the houses to get the jobs done. They were using epoxy in all the houses. The fact that it doesn't crumble is the main benefit for using it.

Hello there, You could scoop them out with a flat trowel and scrap cement backing with that as well. But it won't be much of a success and you will lose around 30-40 %. You could DIY broken tiles mosaics as an art ; frame and fix it on the wall itself with an appropriate glue. Or search for other DIYs on youtube. You could replace them with decals as described @cornerstone studio , but there's a catch ; high heat areas could deform and de-glue the decals as well.
