To answer your question, regarding which material to use for the outsides of your home

Terracotta Brick - unless you have used bricks that are meant to be left exposed, ordinary bricks will take in a lot of water and leave the walls damp, and hence not a great idea. You could ofcourse cover it with a veneer of brick cladding but that is something we would not propose.

Between wooden cladding and paint, it frankly depends completely on your budget. Wooden cladding looks extremely good but is quite pricey.

Our suggestion would be to paint the majority of the home, with highlights in parts in wooden cladding.

Your facade seems to have primarily three planes.

Our suggestion here would be to treat each of the three planes independently.

With one at the back and with most at the surface, we would recommend you have in a light, neutral shade, preferably in a beige or a gray paint.

The other two planes, which basically highlight certain parts of the home, we would recommend you have in complimentary, though contrasting colors, a dark brown or a black, and if budget permits in a different material - a wood or a stone cladding.

Our suggestion to you is to introduce a water element within the rooftop. Water adds a sonic quality to a space which is reminiscent of a luxury of old. In addition, do have a lot of green taking over the entire space, which is then punctuated by pergolas.

Our advise to you would be to use a semi gloss resin based paint, which due to its lower freezing temperature, allows for easier and safer use in sub zero conditions.

Before getting on to the materiality of the facade, we would advise you set back the facade from the edge of the slab as far back as possible - this allows for a large chajja which then would protect the vertical wall against rains.

Which material, frankly depends a lot on your budget - you could have double walls, walls made in dry construction, walls made in siporex blocks which have an inbuilt air gap, to a simple brick wall.
