I think a comfortable distance between the island and the counter is around 42". It seems that you have only 30" between your cook top and the counter. I might be a little too tight. The wall between the entrance and the kitchen could be 4' long instead of 6', you would then be able to move the island a foot which would give you more room between the cook top and the island. Could you switch the location of the toilet and vanity in your dad's bathroom so your enter facing a vanity instead of a toilet which is a lot nicer.

Previous information may not be enough, Now I am trying to provide some details. 1)This going to be a part of the first floor of a duplex. 2)Geographical position: Eastern part of India,( near Kolkata),150 km from Bay of Bengal ,semi urban,Temperature: 10-35 centigrade 3)The six column(10"*12") location have been indicated on the previous picture by red. 4)Another picture showing rough floor plan I am attaching. 5)Preferences: i)Enough sun light in the room.probably from east ii)No overhead beam above Bed iii)BEDROOM: Personal small space for Study(separate room not required for study),sofa(62"*28"),a wardrobe (72"*22") and a king size bed with two side tables, these are all for my bedroom. iv) BATH: bathtub is enough, no shower space separately required. single washbasin. v)a small space for vanity. Hello there, If you're thinking of glass, go for an ACP in mirror finish. It's easier to install. Put 2-3 shades of mirrored finish and create a geomteric pattern on the ceiling. Put some pendant lights and you're good to go. Second, to cover up the grill use a cladding (ACP/ Wood) for framing the window and put a good netural white toned sheer curtain for diffused lighting. hi Rahul, you need 3 by 3 sq feet space for wc, as per layout you are getting it. i suggest you to avoid mirror in front of wc, as nobody wants to see themselves in that condition seeing themselves. also, door should open on other side so it will hide the wc. Your washbasin should be in right of counter as it give you more space to use for placing your things like trimming machine etc. for quartz go for mitter edge as it look thick without any extra line, which is most preferred today by Designers today. please prefer glass partition between washbasin and shower, as to segregate wet and dry area. and if you want to ask anything further or discuss about your design. thanks, Archiera Design, Delhi
