HI RinaI do agree I love jewelbox rooms, but I consider them more cosy ... and with a grey marble floor it goes all Versace Italianate! I am trying to balance the colours by bringing in a pattern on the covers rather than plain. I feel this will bring colour without overpowering the room. In the pictures I showed above, the rooms are basically neutral but the colour is brought in via pattern - I think this might be the way to go...Ideally a green or blue on a subdued grey would be the best, but I dont know what the market is like for Sumit...Cushions can do a lot to tie in the other white/grey elements.Shelley - navy is a good suggestion, but as Sumits area is quite tall and thin, trying to keep the general area light Any more suggestions most welcome. These are just ideas after all and Sumit will choose what works for the room in the end ;-)

As Mr Raghu has commented, designer pieces (in whatever category) are not for ergonomics or practicality for normal use. This one is a famous design by a group of professors at the Victoria University of Wellington, New Zealand to aid Autism. You will have to order a piece from New Zealand to be true to its purpose. Copying can be done by a skilled carpenter in India, no doubt, but would still be expensive and a fake. Expert from Inhabitat website: Cradle is a sustainable rocking chair created by a collaborative effort to aid people with autism and Rhythmic Movement Disorder (RMD). Developed within the Victoria University of Wellington, this cocoon-like seat is made from cold-bent plywood. Because rocking is one of the calming activities that is recommended for autistic folks, this special seat is a soothing and aesthetically pleasing addition to their homes.

I think you need to ask yourself some more questions. If you have children - get something that can be cleaned easily. If you have pets that get on the couch - again, get something that can be cleaned easily. Do you want a sofa that can convert into a bed? How humid is your climate - think of the upholstery and possible mold/mildew if the sofa is not in a location where there is good airflow. If you live in a dusty climate, find one that can be wiped or vacuumed easily. MY first consideration is if the couch is comfortable to sit on!
