Going with the theme your are trying to achieve, I would add a black leather ottoman to replace he white table. The built in shelf I would remove and sheetrock over it or paint in a matte finish black. Before you paint in black be sure your have accessories such as silver or reds to put in that space to set off the black background. You can put a series of pictures with silver frames or art objects of silver , red or combination. I love your table and chairs.

Your right. I think it might look better without the couch. We just purchased the gray couch and moved the brown couch there until we sell it. Now that the brown couch is there my husband likes it. He likes to read his newspaper in the morning on it. I was thinking of putting a side table in place of the couch of getting a cover for it.

Hi Shivani, Presuming you are fond of a very ethnic look, here are a few concepts that may help you. You seem to have a terrace like entrance to your drawing room. Liven it up with planters, sculptures etc. You may even shift the jug outside as a part of the landscape. Maybe couple it with a small water body and a few planters and Moroccan lanterns. Bright colours in the form of rugs, cushions and throws liven up a room. You can also play with the colours of the wall. The idea is to keep it clean and simple but fresh. Opting for pastel colours like teal, cream, jade etc. helps. Offset this with bright paintings and artwork. These have been elaborated below: For the lobby go for a rich wallpaper or a wall mural with an antique mirror over the existing wooden ledge and a cluster of family photographs to make the space interesting.
