Carol: these cabinets were custom made by one of our favorite millwork teams. The finish is a spray lacquer which we had a very hard time with. The material orange pealed a number of times so was sanded smooth and re-sprayed at least three times. The result is that the finish ended up being unusually smooth and dense. We worked on the color quite alot to get to this point.
Thank you for your quick response. I love the tiles. I have a small mid century house in the dez that Im rehabbing.. Its only 924 sq. ft. home. In regard to scale i was going to do 24" terrazzo tile throughout the entire house. The kitchen is 154 sq. ft, bathroom 80 sq. ft and the rest of house is 720 sq. ft. (with a little extra to spare. Do you think the 24" is to scale? I wanted to have a more seamless look. Love your thoughts... thank you!
the great benefit here if you place the tiles with minimal joints is that the tiles don't define the scale of the space. Keep in mind that in small complicated spaces the cutting can be a problem. Complicated, hard to do. Great if the space is fairly regular, not so great if there are a lot of ins and outs...
Im opening up walls and making the space a more open floor plan. So it should have a nice flow... I probably need a person who specializes in terrazzo tile installation. Do you recommend a specific thickness for the 24" tile. I know they have different thicknesses. Thickness: 1/2” 5/8” 5/8” 7/8”
Its really a tile job. terrazzo companies lay down terrazzo in liquid form and then polish it in place. you should chedk with the manufacturer for the thickness.
