Organising things around kitchen and dining

This is for an average Indian home. 1. I have a very narrow service area (enough for just one person to walk without twisting and turning). I need to fit my dishwasher, washing machine and a sink for washing vessels. I have been reading a lot about mounting the d/w and w/m on top of each other. But I am not sure how practical that would be, thinking of the dimensions of the 2 machines and my own height. I can perhaps move the d/w to the kitchen by pushing up the granite worktop a little higher. Any other ideas? 2. Those who have always lived in India will understand this. We chose not to have a wash basin in the dining area due to aesthetic reasons. I definitely don't want people to do it in the kitchen for obvious yukky reasons (sorry about grossing you out). But tell me, is it still in trend to have a wash basin in the dining area (if I promise to maintain it well)? Isn't it very 80s and 90s?
