Kitchen colour schemes divide opinion quite strongly!

Those against tend to argue that colour can be garish and date a kitchen faster, while those in the 'for' camp would argue that neutral colour schemes run the risk of leaving a kitchen feeling bland and cold!

Are you brave and bold with vibrant colours in the kitchen or do you prefer a more neutral palette? And if you do prefer a neutral scheme, is this influenced by resale value, or just an objective preference?

I didn't know what way to vote. I went with 'neutral with a splash of colour' but really perhaps I should have gone with 'a lot of colour' (Colour with a splash of neutral, not being an option!). My units and floor are neutral but the walls are a vibrant colour and the colour is more dominant - more than just a 'splash'. Wall colour is easy to change so provides a good opportunity to make a statement and really alter the mood of a room.

Currently we like to mix it up with a island contrasting to the wall units so oak base and wall units along a wall and then white island or off white base and wall units with a blue island. As we use real wood the kitchen can also easily be repainted so you can be bold and then change it if required in the future for very little cost.

I think they mean 5 rooms, not 5 bedrooms.....one master bedroom and 2 bedrooms for children with twin beds or bunk beds in each. I lived in a 1,300 sq ft house for 2 yrs with my husband and 2 sons. My suggestion would be to have an open floor plan for the kitchen, dining area and family room in one large room. Add a bar in the kitchen for casual dining. Be sure to include storage in family room for toys, games, etc. Add a built in desk in eiher the kitchen or family room areas . The master bedroom and bath should be large enough to accomodate a queen size bed and if possible a sitting area (maybe a bay window large enough for for a small loveseat or a couple of comfortable chairs). I would recommend a large walkin shower but no tub for the master bath. Instead have a nice size tub/ shower combo in the hall bath. Too make your house feel larger, use neutral camel, beige, gold or grey paint and carpet through out the kitchen, dining area, family, hallways and hallbath. If you want to add color, limit it to 3 bedrooms. Hanging all your window treatments at ceiling height will make your rooms feel larger and taller.

There are so many wall colours that would work with your neutral furniture, that the first thing to do would be to consider what colours you might want to use in the rooms. Look for inspiration pictures and create an idea book, then use what you like to help you choose rugs, drapes and bedding before choosing the paint colour. Do you have any existing art that you want to use? That could give you clues for fabric colours and style. I wouldn't use the same colour scheme for the two bedrooms, exactly, although I might try to make them look similar by using some colours in common and keeping them in the same style. On the other hand, if you have a child who has strong ideas I'd say let him or her have considerable say in the matter for that bedroom (just this side of reason).

Hello , Since you have a beige marble flooring, you can opt for a colour scheme that adds a pop of colour to your space. For example, the green and grey colour scheme or the green and taupe colour scheme will look good on a beige flooring, there is also the neutral earth tone colour scheme which has the combination of wine and taupe colour and lastly there is the earth tone colour scheme which consist of golden wheat/ burnt orange colour, These would add a pop of colour to your space and make it look chic
