@soberg: on the toilet entry we thought we could have a 2 way access to the corner most toilet - one from the closet side and another from bedroom 3. @ eagledzines. Thank you for the sketches! On the high ceiling do you think we could juggle the entire layout of 1st floor a bit to accomodate a small family room (hall) where the staircase opens along with 2 other bedrooms. We are ok to compromise on the room sizes a bit and toilet / closet positions can be changed too as long as pillars are not affected.. The kitchen changes sound good. I was also wondering if it would be ok to have the sink right below the window. Thereby freeing up more cooking or prep space.

Please consider this reorganization of the spaces which makes the most off the area available. The dining area is moved from the dark interior to share the same area as the living room, across from the open kitchen counter which would serve as a buffet. The black volumes are false columns faced in stone or marble or any other material of your choosing to give the space some girth. This distribution of the spaces gains you a walking closet for the master bedroom. Its ultimate effectiveness depends on your needs. I hope this is somewhat useful.

Shraddha, Decide whether you want to take an easier route of hiring a interior planner or the fun way of doing it all by yourself. Second one is better if you are really good with choices and measurements. 1- Draw a budget for home, break it down to each room and each furniture piece. 2- Note exact measurements of the walls and spaces and note it in your diary. It helps to note the sizes in mm as readymade furniture are often mentioned in mm. 3- Visit the stores in your vicinity check the measurements against your requirements. Select a look that suit your taste. Usual furniture measurements are standard and often mentioned in mm which is quite confusing to new users. 4- Be very cautious with online furniture refunds or returns policies in case the size doesn't fit. Hello Anamika. I would still suggest to not change the existing plan for practicality reasons. The only change that I want to suggest is to have that unit (besides the bathroom door, is that a dresser or workstation?) to move it adjacent to the TV unit (towards the entry door). However, if you do not like the existing pattern and want to change it - you could move the wardrobes to the North wall and place the bed on the West wall as suggested earlier and to address your concern of the narrow look, do one of the below: We could do a better space planning by doing some offbeat designing. If you need a workstation, you could make use of the headboard to double up as a desk (sample pic below) - meaning your bed along with the headboard would be moved towards East by about 3 feet. If you are one who wishes to have a space for your books, you could use the West wall to have a mini library too. If you elevate the work desk and library space by a single step, it would stand out and will give a special look to your bedroom. Another option is to have two single seaters with a round center table in between. You could also have a bedroom bench which can store your knickknacks. Sample pic shown below.
