How much of the pattern? Please guide me/tell me :-)

I have attached a photo of my in progress bathroom, vanity and proposed tile.
The bath will sit on the platform under the window with vanity of the left and d shape shower opposite and toilet faces window.
I am just so unsure how much of the patterned tile to have?
Do I just have the pattern on the main floor?
Do I run it onto the platform as well?
Do I run it up the wall behind the bath?
Do I have some pattern in the shower.
I've seen so many photos and I just can't decide. Please give me a push! All comments and suggestions welcome

7 years agoThank you for your reply. I am normally quite a plain person but I'm interested in making a bit of a statement in the bathroom I'm tired of plain white and magnolia :-)
Attached is my favourite combination. I was thinking the grey ones halfway up the wall and the pattern on the floor, but not sure whether to include the pattern on the bath platform and wall behind it also?! I guess I'm scared of the end result.
The fittings are all quite modern.

Comments (27)With your original pictures - I agree with larger rug. But I don't agree with comments suggesting the rooms are monochromatic. They are lively indeed. I think you are just missing some accessories! Art work on the empty walls - even just a single large dramatic piece is in order. In the bedroom on the white wall, in the living space behind the sofa, in the greenish bedroom behind the two beds. Those are instant areas where you can improve. But I think your spaces are lovely and well put together. Also I agree with the comment about table lamps - some of those would really add something, and your coffee table looks so empty - maybe just one gorgeous bowl, or stack some books. These rooms are 90% done in my opinions, just need a few finishing touches. I mean the fabric I posted above to be an example of the kind of colour you could use for your bedcovers; they could be plain provided the fabric is a bit interesting, with a bit of texture. Alternatively, an unobtrusive pattern. The thing is to find something that will blend with both your wood and your walls. That with cream sheets and pillows, and a throw cushion that brings in the coral (or whatever colour you use) -- that's where the cream and coral should be -- and you're all set, I think. No reason not to use the coral on your dressing table seat, I just wouldn't put it on a big area, like curtains or bed. With either of the other two colours I posted you could do things in exactly the same way, because they are both quite bright. For a suggested rug colour, see my collage above. Hover your cursor on it and check the bottom left -- a simple rug that's almost exactly the colour of your walls. I think that would be good. I hope this makes sense. Comments (32)First of all, I don't think that furniture is comfortable enough to sit and watch TV, so the TV should be remove from that room, the purple wall paper and the purple furniture is too much, you should consider another color for that wall and the furniture against the wall it doesn't look good. What is that room at the end is kind of dark and I cannot appreciate exactly what is the purpose of that room. I'm a firm believer in skylights, we have skylights in the laundry room, kitchen, living room and office, they make a big difference. (if you cannot have skylights (or tube lights) can lights are a great option. There are a lot of great ideas from everyone. I personally love the tile, it really is beautiful and that's why it needs to be highlighted. Having too much of it will drown it so to speak so I would do either one of these 2 options:
1) Leave it on the main floor only. Then on the platform floor and wall, up to the window, I would put a matte grey tile of the exact same colour as the grey in your feature tile.
2) Or put it only on the wall behind the bath up to the ceiling a bit like this:
I really think that's your 2 options as otherwise it might be too much. With these I think you'll agree it "frames" the tiles more so they have a real impact.
