Bedroom Help!
Trying to get my house together before hosting Thanksgiving on the 20th! My house is a 1930s bungalow, so I'm shooting for a more vintage feel. Our bedroom is SMALL and this is the only place for our bed. I've added the headboard below, but what kind of curtains, pillows/throws, and wall decor do you recommend over the bed. I'm thinking vintage, oval silhouettes over the bed. Trying to stay on a small budget too...thanks!

Comments (24)Keya, glad you decided to take the one reader's idea about moving the armoires in front of windows that you don't need and giving the bed a wall of its own! And, yes, you can have Roman shades on one wall and layered drapes on the other. When I had drapes made for my tall sitting room windows/doors, I had them use the same fabric for the Roman shades for the smaller windows on the other wall. For me personally, in these older Indian homes with all the odd nooks and niches in the walls, perhaps it would be more soothing to have a light/med tone paint on the walls that blends with the drapes/blinds for an 'uninterrupted' look, and I would use the same color on ceiling and beams. (but that is just my thought) I would start the process with a large carpet with your favorite colors, then choose your Bedcover & cushions, then your wall paint and fabric for drapes/blinds ..Not certain what style you like, but if you really like a particular Ethnic bedcover fabric, you can always have them stitched into curtains or Roman shades too. Comments (6)Why not paint it in a pastel colour? Add a carved chest that doubles up as shoe rack and organiser to store your shoes below and hold keys and bills in top drawers. You could hang a painting or a statement mirror above the chest and highlight with wall sconces or beautiful table lamps to shine a soft light around it....See More

7 years agoYou could paint your walls or get new colorful throw pillows. Perhaps a long shorter piece of art would work. If you see reviews someone placed this horizontally above Their bed

Might I suggest some architectural salvage pieces?
Perhaps distressed exterior shutters over the bed
or old tin ceiling tiles?
Or perhaps DIY palettes. These are easy and LOOK how awesome they look!

7 years agoInstead of repainting, what about a painting over the bed? Depending on your taste, look for art work with grays, whites, and green or blues--something dreamlike or abstract. Then add a couple pillows in a color from the art.
