If you don't need privacy or light control nothing looks good.. You already have a lot going on with tile, cabinet and countertop features.

I think a 2" wood blind would look stunning. You would gain privacy, and light control, but still maintain your view if you wish to open the slats. Here is an example of how it could look.

thank you all.. sounds like it's time to remove the old valances and if I do anything once I see the action, it might be blinds I can move. Not sure of the 2" vs 1" I do have shutters in a few other rooms. This great room area only has long panels on larger windows so no competition added.

You might want to think about the adhesive privacy film that is sold at the home improvement stores - gives you the look of decorative glass and the light, but provides privacy. Your kitchen is quite lovely and you really don't need to add fussy treatments or blinds...

Think woven shades would be great there.

Fabric roman shades would be nice....or cafe shutters.

You don't need to remove the swags--they add a nice softness to the hard surfaces in the kitchen. Just install something underneath--as noted above--woven shades or wooden blinds would look nice.
