Need help in putting up painting in my Living room
Comments (8)Dear Carolyn, Thanks for your advice. Wood of 5mm thickness will be a good idea . It will help painting remain straight. I can slide it through a groove on wooden bars top and above. The wall I am describing is the one on left side as you enter. I love this painting as it depicts joy and celebration and you always get a smile when you look at it. Comments (4)This is a structural evil that you will have to live with. But there are ways to turn it to your advantage. You could add a false ceiling between the beam and the far wall (about 6 " or so above the height of the soffit (bottom height) of the beam. As an extension of the false ceiling, you can also add a matching fake beam on the far wall side. Then recess lights into the false ceiling. In this way, you can turn this portion of the ceiling into a feature. With this feature, you could also turn attention away from the upturned 'pit' portion between the beam and the far wall. A fake beam at the far end will not interfere with circulation space, since you could place an entertainment unit there As an alternative to the false ceiling, you could create shallower beams in wood in that portion, parallel to the existing beam...See MoreWhat to do with fireplace
Comments (6)A Rumford design is very shallow, has outward-flaring sides, a back that arches forward, a curve on the underside of the front lintel leading back to a broad slot-like flue with a flue chamber above it. The overall front opening is almost square, sometimes slightly taller than wide. Rumford fireplaces are very distinctive looking. You can get some basic information from this wikipedia article here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rumford_fireplace and there is plenty of info online, even ready-made reproductions (more or less accurate). Rumford developed his improvements and published them in the late 1790s, just before fireplace heating was displaced by stove heating (a process already well underway when Rumford developed his improvements). Good luck with your whatever you decide to do....See MoreWant to Hide my Window above Bed/make it soundproof
Comments (6)Hi Deepak, Neighboring noises can be annoying, especially night. I would advise the same, go for u-PVC windows, that will help in maximum noise reduction. As I can see in image, a full-length curtain indicating probable full window or door. You should go for u-PVC window/door for that too. The noise will be reduced to a minimum. -Thanks, -Neelam -Lines and Profile...See Moresandra_minto71
