quartz is a man made product using natural stone and a resin material. No sealing and is stain proof. I have had my granite for 10 years. I have never had a staining issue and set hot pots down on it seldom, but it has never bothered it. I've sealed it maybe 2-3 times over 10 years. granite really doesn't stain. So, compared to quartz, they are very similar. It all comes down to what you like the best.

I wanted to use a shimmery pearl backsplash but it was problematic to install. Looking for something reflective. My island is deep blue (sea serpent by Sherwin-Williams), cabinets white with clear glass in second row uppers, fixtures, pulls and knobs all champagne bronze. normally the breakfast counter height varies from 36" to 42" if you want it to be perfect height select the stools for the counter first then check the height of the stool and add 12" to 15' in the height. distance between the stool seat and table top should be 12" to 15" max...
