If you are going for a more traditional look, black/bronze hardware on a white door is very sharp, great contrast and if you order nice hardware that you'd like noticed, it's the way to go. Brushed nickel hardware is a much softer look. It works great if you have a light neutral/soft color pallet in your home or if you don't want your hardware to stand out as much.
We have ORB on all our doors. But then most of our cabinet hardware, light fixtures and lamps are ORB too. You don't have to match them all, we just chose to do so. It really is more a question of your personal taste. The ORB will give you more of a contrast between the door and the hardware, but they can both look good.
The real question is . . . which do YOU like best?
