Color help please

I have downsized into a small open concept home, small 1100 sq. ft in all. It is sort of French country which I love. But my floral couch, I don't know where to begin. We live in Bend Or, west facing. But it's doesn't have a lot of light in the living room and kitchen. So I'd like to keep airy without being loud. I love buffalo check but don't know if that's possible. I'm exhausted trying to figure this out. I'm retired, so I have to watch my penny's now. Can anyone help me? I'm so excited to see what others think. I have many other pics if needed.

The space is great. the white vaulted ceilings give a beachy look. What about a white or off-white slipcover for the sofa and some printed pillows to tie in the rug?

I love the ceilings, the light fixtures... It's a great little house! You referred to your couch, and I agree it doesn't work. I do think you could do a buffalo check in tan and cream/white. I am sure others will pipe in with more suggestions.

I'd do without a rug to keep the floor from looking dumped. I will retain just one seat with the floral print and the bigger sofa might be better with plain off-white linen. This way, all looks clean and fresh. If you need to keep the leather chair, put a lovely throw over it and maybe 1 pillow with the design you like to make it softer and feminine.

I think the space is way too busy. If you plan to add a buffalo check to what's already there, it will be way over the top. I'd neutralize either the rug or the sofa, for starters. Then your TV console is too small, and I don't have words for that mantel. It doesn't fit at all with the modern fireplace. In short, I think your room is having an identity crisis.

Could you give us a shot of the whole sofa wall and fireplace, please?

Note the simplicity of this room from your ideabook. Plain rug and a limited color palette make this floral sofa work.

Get a stretchy slip cover for the sofa. they fit better, especially if you tuck those foam pool noodles between the back and the seat cushions. I would agree with changing the mantle then rearranging furniture to make it more of a focal point.

Love the ceilings and open space. Agree with above suggestion to either slip cover sofa in neutral cream color or reupholster in buffalo plaid in soft creams and tans. Probably more economical to replace sofa.

I love the sofa! A solid color rug (I'd pick one of the least used colors from the sofa), a couple of small, matching arm chairs, in the Provincial style, some simple tables, and pottery based lamps, and I think you would be done. My taste is more urban/industrial/rustic, but I love your sofa fabric!
