In high humidity, I suspect fungus but it could easily also be some kind of sucking insect. Try swabbing the plant, especially the underside of the leaves, with methylated spirits. Also spray with fungicide. By the way, don't want to say this, but in the West the word 'swastika' doesn't have good connotations. I know the meaning is totally different in the east, but using that as your avatar name might not encourage people to help.

Hi Simran, I am a big fan of having indoor plants around the house. There is this misconception that plants in the bedroom may not be a good idea because of the carbon dioxide from their breathing. But assuming that you will be looking at a couple of small plants, this really should not be something to worry about. Snake plants and Golden Pothos (money plant) are low maintenance and really help clean the air. Do upload some pics here once you have put your plants.
