Wood floor on concrete subfloor.

I need to redo the floors in my condo including the kitchen. My condo was built in 1942 and has a concrete subfloor over a crawl space. I have been told I can't use solid wood. Is this true? If it is what are my options. I am not a fan of wood look tile. Thanks very much.

Engineered harwdood is PERFECT for over concrete. If proper moisture testing is done, it can be glued or floated over concrete (I prefer glued) with GREAT success. Engineered hardwood is every bit as good as solid, and better - provided you don't go super cheap. Solid should never need to be an option there, it's a perfect fit for engineered hardwood. Find a qualified professional installer who will do Wagner Rh tests.

I have concrete sub floors also I used Pergo XP Extreme Performance the floor is beautiful have it in 2+ years and they look like they went in yesterday.

Hello Nitin, There is not great all pre-fabricated stair I can recommend. The best thing is to find a stair builder that can make something to fit your needs. We do high end interior and some exterior work. We make our stairs in Seattle, and can then ship them anywhere. Well it depends on your wall color as well . since you have such concrete looking floor I would recommend you can chose any electic color like lemon , orange , yellow to give a bright look and uplift room mood or chose any pastle color of your choice for subtle feel . :)

Talk to the staff at a high end [not Home Depot or Lumber Liquidators] flooring store about your options. My husband also says you can't do hardwood on a concrete slab as I was suggesting that for my sister's house that is a concrete slab.
