Hi shampadhar. I look forward to a pic, but generally, yes: it could look odd to have the headboard appreciably higher than the footboard. Despite any other changes, it will look like a bed in the living room. HOWEVER: part of cottage style is relaxed eclecticism, so this may not be a problem and possibly quite charming. The solution will be in placement and styling. If the bed is placed against a wall, position the footboard end nearest the corner. Use a relatively substantial table in the corner at the footboard end of the bed with lighting, accessories, etc., creating a "sofa" feel. No table at the other end, with maybe a pendant or small chandelier suspended over the headboard end. This asymmetry will provide casual and effective light for reading and other activities and support the relaxed vibe that says "cottage style". Use a variety of throw pillows, also more heavily concentrated on the footboard end and arranged largest to smallest along the footboard and down about 3/4 the length of the wall. This will reverse the perceived visual weight of the bed from the headboard to the footboard and help to offset the disparity between the different heights. Consider only a lovely bolster at the headboard end. I really do love to use pieces out of context when this makes sense. If you love the wood, leave it alone and simply dress the bed differently, as described above. It is an interesting way to give this favored piece a new context and a new life, and a cottage is the setting wherein this is most likely to be successful. Post pics, please. First of all, I don't think that furniture is comfortable enough to sit and watch TV, so the TV should be remove from that room, the purple wall paper and the purple furniture is too much, you should consider another color for that wall and the furniture against the wall it doesn't look good. What is that room at the end is kind of dark and I cannot appreciate exactly what is the purpose of that room. I'm a firm believer in skylights, we have skylights in the laundry room, kitchen, living room and office, they make a big difference. (if you cannot have skylights (or tube lights) can lights are a great option. There are a lot of great ideas from everyone. I can't wait to see the after photos.

coming to the dining area..yes id say you remove the seating entirely and concentrate on a foyer area since you already have space for a drawing room on the floor.. id suggest erecting a glass and marble wall in line with the wall that runs between the pooja room and the bedroom..say a bit of marble-glass-marble-glass-marble.in this case you have a small foyer area demarcated by this wall feature.you can deck it up by placing a nice console table in front of the central marble wall with a nice mirror to reflect the space and make it look larger or a sculpture with beautiful bracket lights on either side to accentuate the same.and on the backside of this wall you could have a crockery unit with a huge painting or a cluster of family snaps above it. if you could brief me a little on the look you're adapting for your house i could suggest some more treatments for the walls.if you want to avoid using too much marble you could also opt for a marble wood and glass look where you could take out some concealed storage for shoes etc. regarding the drawing room - what about a huge 4 seater in the center instead of 2 - two seaters with a table in the middle as in the plan..if you remove the central coffee table maybe you could replace the single seater with a chaise for 2 and also replace the 2 center tables with a nice long table in the center with an area rug running below it..if you could help me with the room dimensions maybe we could add 2 pouffes in front of the 4 seater so it creates more seating and doesnt obstruct the view if you plan to put a TV on the wall. what look do you have in mind for your terrace garden ? something zen or a little rustic toeing on the lines of the contemporary ? sorry for the late reply as i was travelling.. hope this helps! :)

Personally, I would also steer clear of pink. The latest Disney Princesses have been all about the blue, green etc etc. (and I rather like the yellow!) One of the most cost effective solutions is to make a virtue of the existing colour scheme by getting some woodland decals and a couple of small fairies (think: Sleeping Beauty in the woods) for the walls and wardrobe - easy to place and reposition, and easy to remove if you want to change the theme at a later date. See if you can find a big decal that looks like a picture frame, too, and put that on the mirror in the wash area (think: magic mirror!) Some sort of drapery, above the bed is always good. If you're concerned about installing a full corona on the ceiling, you can mount a curtain rail above the bed (don't forget to buy one with crystal sparkly finials!) and hang a set of long voile curtains for a similar effect! I would then advocate sparkly crystal curtain tie backs - they're cheap, cheerful and can be swapped out when the colour begins to bore. Finally, swap out all the drawer pulls and knobs with something glam and crystal-ly in style. Assuming your daughter is quite young, I would say err on the side of shiny bling, and she'll love them! All of these options are pretty simple to do, not too expensive and easy to reverse or change as she grows up!
