I think the only countertops to be wary of using would be marble or tile with white grouting. Granite, quartz, Corian, or even formica should not give you any trouble with staining.

@magspag Thanx for the advice. We wanted to save some cost by not replacing the floor tiles, as well as save by retaining the upper cabinet in its current grey shade. Guess we will go for all-black for the cabinets: both below and above the counter; and put in a new counter-top that contrasts--maybe, a light coloured granite or slate. Grey Willam Marble is fantastic, will look something different, as maximum people will go for beige or cream, but i am sceptical about using a dark florring as trasfer of light will be less making the room go smaller and darker in ambience. Need your advice on this also First choice was white due to the reason that lighter florring give a wider look even to a small area, My walls and ceiling will be white, furniture most of it will be white and little bit of charcol greey to brerak down the continuity of white. Also advice which highliting color of a wall in an individual wall will go well with combination of white and charcol grey.
