“Alethea is amazing! She was an integral part of the team when we remodeled our entire basement, renovated our kitchen and added a large porch in the front of our home. She was the key person to help select all of the interior selections and after the work was completed, assisted in the interior furnishings as well. We did a second project with her as well. We added a laundry room that is the envy of my neighborhood. She designed and drew up all of the plans and worked well with all of the subs. Many friends have seen her work in my home and have hired her as well- both to help in structural changes as well as interior work. They all have been happy. I cannot recommend her highly enough. “I hired Hart's Design to design an addition to my home in Edina. This included a garage, workshop, master bath, roof deck, laundry/mudroom expansion. sunroom, and kitchen expansion. Admittedly, I am a very particular/difficult client. Generally, I am not satisfied with anyone I hire and usually consider it successful if the interaction does not end in the exchange of profanity. I know this about myself and tell people this prior to working with them. I have never offered to serve as a reference for any contractor or designer in the past. Robert was excellent. He took our ideas, added his expertise and brought it to life. He was responsive and timely and the rates were very reasonable. He delivered exactly what he said he would. I particularly liked that I could work with him to create a design/blueprints that we liked. I was then able to take these detailed plans and get bids from a number of contractors rather than being tied to a single design/build firm. This was some of the best money we spent on our addition. “Chad Haller and the rest of the 10K Architecture team did an incredible job designing our basement and master bathroom. We live in a typical 1.5 story house in Southwest Minneapolis and we chose to invest in quality design to improve our smaller space instead of increasing the footprint of our home. Prior to working with 10K, we had concepts from contractors and design build firms, but most were simple, boxy designs that didn’t inspire us enough to begin the projects. “I want to start by saying that not only would I use SKD architects again, I would ONLY use them. I tore down and replaced the home I'd lived in for twenty years. Steve Kleineman and I began with a discussion where I described my thoughts for my new home. He came up with a drawing which was close. One meeting later he had designed exactly what I wanted. Steve included the level of detail I desired, and, designed several pieces of furniture for specific spots, each on it's own, a masterpiece. My home is custom, inside and out. You will not see this home anywhere else. He designs for the person. Additionally, there is nothing trendy about his designs. I doubt that fifty years from now anybody will be able to say that this home is "typical" of homes built in the early 2000s. Outside, Steve carried out details from the inside making his plan cohesive and beautiful. He was careful in his design not to hurt existing old trees and was not only respectful of my existing lot, he made the very most of it. I had no idea for the entire first twenty years that I lived in my home that my lot could have the beauty it does today. When building began, Steve worked closely with the builder to insure that my vision was carried out meticulously. It felt as though he was working on his own home, that's how involved and accessible he was. Because of it, my home is perfect. He listened closely to my needs and was easy to get along with. When I made changes, he kept the up-charges to a minimum, in some cases actually reducing the price. Construction on my 5,000 square foot home took less than one year from the day they tore down the old house (not as emotional as I'd have thought to see it go) until moving in to my new warm lovely home; slightly under 11 months to be exact. I have seen larger homes, but never any done with any better attention to detail. It is perfect. Feel free to call if you need additional information about this build, but know that I felt it was as easy and enjoyable as it could possibly have been. The only thing I enjoy more is living here.”

“TreHus has worked with/for Dan on a number of different projects spanning two decades. Dan has a unique ability to see a home or commercial space’s potential while honoring its original character. In the design of the now famous Wild Rumpus bookstore that has captured the imagination of so many young readers, Dan designed a ceiling that looked like it had cracked open, revealing the sky above (really a mural). In a former masonic lodge/business meeting space, he created a room that can function as a basketball court, movie theater or performance space to suit the owners’ varied interests. In a home on Lake Minnetonka, he designed a butterfly roof that pays homage to the home’s original 1960’s architecture and creates a two-story wall of windows, opening up panoramic views of the lake. In other words, he is excellent at thinking out of the box to capture each space’s best possibilities.”

“Our project, which took approximately 3 1/2 months from start to completion, included both a kitchen and basement remodel. Anchor Builders recommended that we use Fluidesign for our design work. Fluidesign did the layout and consulted with us on all phases of the project. They were available and helpful at every phase of construction. In addition to producing an excellent floor plan, they assisted with major and minor decisions including selection of appliances, cabinets, lighting fixtures, carpeting, paint colors, etc. All the options available would have been very overwhelming without their help.
