Apart from council "doing my head in" the stress relief by Io Architecture stepping in and being persistence proved worthwhile and finally gave us our expected and deserving result. “I have had the privilege of working alongside Emily Nair of i.Balter Design on a number of construction projects. Emily’s most valuable qualities are her attention to detail, her meticulousness with her drawings and her calm and efficient approach. She has a warm and respectful manner with clients and is highly approachable. Emily’s ability to cater for the specific needs of her clients is outstanding. She is a great listener and is able to individualise her designs to suit the lifestyles of the people she designs for. She is highly organised and takes the stress away from the challenging and somewhat tedious tasks of obtaining permits and liaising with Council. I have received terrific feedback from many happy clients about Emily’s professionalism. From a builder’s perspective, Emily’s plans are highly detailed and accurate. She is very knowledgeable with her understanding of construction, therefore making required changes to plans easily and quickly. Emily has planned extremely complex designs to difficult existing structures, such as her new extension to a severely dilapidated 1850’s homestead in Ivanhoe East. Her design resulted in a seamless addition to a historical Melbourne home; flawlessly unifying the beauty of yesteryear with the practicalities of today. “Hi my name is Vicki and I hired 1 Step Design and Develop to assist me with designing and building my first home. I found the team to be extremely professional and helpful with all aspects of the project. Their ability to meet deadlines, work within my budget and work with others such as the council and my solicitor etc. was great. They also connected me with amazing builders that made the entire process very stress free for which I am extremely appreciative of. They arranged meetings where i could go and look at the work of the builders (both completed properties and ones in the process of being built) to help me evaluate the quality of the work and the prospective people I would be hiring. I will definitely be using 1 Step Design and Develop for all my future projects and would recommend them to anyone who is interested in designing and building their own home. Special thanks go to Joel for his architectural knowledge, skill and precision and always keeping me in the loop and being available to answer all my questions. “Timmins & Whyte designed, tendered and managed the building of my family home in North Melbourne ($1,000,000 + project). They're a small, busy architectural firm which to my mind is the only type of firm to deal with when building you're own place. I was away overseas during much of the process so left things in their hands. My architect emailed, texted and rang me pretty much daily with progress updates. She was highly competent, devoid of ego (important for an architect I think) and followed my instructions. The managers regularly suggested ideas to save money and make improvements as you'd expect of a decent firm. I felt they had my best interests at heart, were good with budgets and managed the builders so all I needed to do was move in when the time came. Unlike most reviews of architects, my comments above are unsolicited.”
