Karenna Wilford Architects Ltd
Green Building in Haywards Heath.
“We were very pleased when Karenna Wilford Architects were recommended to us for our cottage extension and refurbishment. Karenna has been like a breath of fresh air to us. She is reliable, professional and very pleasant to work with. She worked closely with us to give us not only just what we wanted but also made valuable suggestions which proved to be a large benefit to the final scheme. KWA project managed all the building works as we had very specific requirements and wanted to use specialised contractors. They were very efficient and KWA kept us well informed of the impact some of the design decisions would have on our budget! We love our new home and can thoroughly recommend Karenna and her team.”
Brian Hoolahan Architect
Green Building in Haywards Heath.
“Brian Hoolahan acted as our principal architect as we embarked on our project to replace our harbour fronted home in Chichester. The location of the property was particularly sensitive as it is situated in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.
Our brief was for Brian’s practice to design a family home using traditional materials whilst at the same time satisfying some of the highest environmental standards with respect to energy efficiency and material sourcing - including ground source heating and significant reliance of a sustainably sourced oak structure as an alternative to steel. Further, as a resident of Bosham we very much required that our new home was to be sympathetic towards the local environment, being close to Bosham village and its grade 1 listed Anglican church.
Brian led all aspects of the design and planning approval process - which included satisfying the requirements of the District and Parish counsils as well as other authorities, including Chichester Harbour Conservancy.
Following planning approval, Brian, through his construction company, Harbour Contractors, project managed the build covering all aspects of compliance and certification addressing architectural matters as they arose.
We were delighted in choosing Brian’s organisation for our project and were able to benefit from his many years of professional experience as well as his deep architectural knowledge, having developed many projects throughout West Sussex.”
Ambo Architects
Green Building in Haywards Heath.
“Paul of Ambo Architects was recommended to me by my builder who praised his detailed construction drawings and problem solving skills. He said architects often provided only outline plans with very little thought on how the design should be practically achieved and that Paul was very different. The builder was right. Paul proved to be a delight to deal with, a very good listener with an open collaborative approach to the early stages of design. He has a great understanding of regulations both planning and building and produced a final design to a very high standard that sailed through all regulatory processes. The drawings provided for construction were extensively detailed with nothing left to chance, when any issues did arise Paul was on hand to help resolve the problems.
The project was for a ground floor side return extension with a small first floor extension above. The realised design absolutely maximises both the available space and light in what is a small, and previously dark mid-Victorian house. The contemporary design, with modernist influence, is achieved in traditional materials and sits well with the rest of the victorian architecture. I would recommend Ambo to anyone.”
Titman Design
Green Building in Haywards Heath.
“What we first loved about Mark's designs was their imagination and vision. The extension he designed for us was on a very difficult site and he immediately came up with all kinds of adventurous solutions. In the end we simply could not afford the optimum version, but he was able to adapt the original design to be closer to our budget and the final result is a huge success, greatly admired by everyone who sees it.”
Martins Camisuli Architects
Green Building in Haywards Heath.
“Martins Camisuli designed and project managed a new kitchen project in my home. I wanted something individual and crafted. It involved complete remodelling of the space, removal of walls and the design and manufacture of bespoke kitchen units. They were responsive to my ideas, creative and enthusiastic. I found it very easy to communicate with them and the works were completed on time and on budget. I think the choice of materials and overall design are warm simple and enduring. I would be very happy to have the opportunity use them again.”
Stanza Design
Green Building in Haywards Heath.
“We worked with John at Stanza Design to build our ensuite bathroom, which involved some structural work too. Would thoroughly recommend, its my favourite room! The balance between choice in design and being guided by someone who knows what they are doing was perfect, the builders appointment were excellent too. Would definitely use again.”
Phase Zero Design&Build
Green Building in Haywards Heath.
“Brilliant, really easy to work with, friendly, did exactly what was needed. We will definitely work with Phase zero in the near future.”
Miller Architects
Green Building in Haywards Heath.
“If you need design work on your property ask Iain. He did a great job for me on redesiging my kitchen/dining room extension - I now have lots of light and a lovely room to entertain friends and family.”
MortonScarr Architects
Green Building in Haywards Heath.
“We partnered with CDMS on a full restoration of a previous unloved Regency home in Brighton. The unique walk in larder, clad in a liquid bronze finish, really shows their ability to create unique, ambitious design whilst retaining the beauty of a period home. The bathroom is elegant with a touch of industrial and remains one of our most saved images on our Houzz profile.

Koru Architects
Green Building in Haywards Heath.
“Working with Mark over a period of 3.5 years from our initial meeting through to finally getting a go ahead was a painless experience always there to provide advice. This was more than we could say for our local planners who proved to be a challenge at every turn, especially with a site in an AONB, in the green belt and part of the High Weald.
The day was finally won through, use of the permitted development arrangements. A key factor in this, was the efficient and innovative roof profile, large in area but small enough in volume. This allowed us to satisfy all the necessary criteria. This curving profile had been one of Marks earliest concepts which he had presented to us and which had been particularly appealing, being a different approach from the conventional pitched roof arrangements. It was this ultimately significant arrangement that allowed the successful pursuit of gaining permission from our local planning authority, against what at times seemed like insurmountable objections from the planners.”
