Brian Hoolahan Architect
Green Building in Eastleigh.
“Brian Hoolahan acted as our principal architect as we embarked on our project to replace our harbour fronted home in Chichester. The location of the property was particularly sensitive as it is situated in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.
Our brief was for Brian’s practice to design a family home using traditional materials whilst at the same time satisfying some of the highest environmental standards with respect to energy efficiency and material sourcing - including ground source heating and significant reliance of a sustainably sourced oak structure as an alternative to steel. Further, as a resident of Bosham we very much required that our new home was to be sympathetic towards the local environment, being close to Bosham village and its grade 1 listed Anglican church.
Brian led all aspects of the design and planning approval process - which included satisfying the requirements of the District and Parish counsils as well as other authorities, including Chichester Harbour Conservancy.
Following planning approval, Brian, through his construction company, Harbour Contractors, project managed the build covering all aspects of compliance and certification addressing architectural matters as they arose.
We were delighted in choosing Brian’s organisation for our project and were able to benefit from his many years of professional experience as well as his deep architectural knowledge, having developed many projects throughout West Sussex.”
Studio Four Architects Ltd
Green Building in Eastleigh.
“Claire Lingham and team at Studio4 did an excellent job for us when we built a house from a collection of outbuildings. She is efficient, organised and professional whilst being a pleasure to work with. The project won a prestigious award from the RICS. We are now working with Claire on a second project.”
Alexander Design

“I cannot reccommend John highly enough. His work is outstanding and I have used him on 2 projects. Should the opportunity arrise I will not hesitate to use again.”
Fineline Architects
Green Building in Eastleigh.
“Fineline Architechs offered us a fantastic service. We live in a Tudor, listed building which required a great deal of renovation and a total revamp of the large parts of the house. Fineline delivered a fabulous design which was both contemporary but also sympathetic to the original ancient building. Both Katie and Chris had great ideas and where a joy to work with. They were also excellent at dealing with our local council and conservation officer to ensure that the designs we submitted would have the highest likelihood of success, which indeed they did as we had the entire programme of works agreed by the planning department. I can not recommend Fineline highly enough and I would definitely use them again.”
White and Gray Architecture Design Develop
Green Building in Eastleigh.
“Steven White of WGADD has been working for us on the drawings for a small domestic project to enable us to increase the light and make better use of the living space In our kitchen and dining areas. He has always been helpful, approachable, professional and reliable. We are currently waiting for a planning decision following the submission of the agreed drawings and will be liaising with Steven for the next steps in our project. We have valued his expertise with such projects.”
Johnny Grey Studios.
Green Building in Eastleigh.
“In designing our new kitchen there were two major hurdles – a narrow L shaped room opening into an about to be built orangery; and a husband who wanted high gloss white and handless units.
We invested considerable hours in kitchen design shops but felt that what we were getting would look like a laboratory or a dental practitioner. We decided that the designs were too linear and we needed some curves and a friend recommended Johnny Grey.
We met with Johnny Grey and suddenly we could see some light at the end of the kitchen design tunnel. He listened to our needs and wishes and produced a set of designs which unquestionably surpassed anything else we had previously come up with or had envisaged. He recommended a series of zones for our kitchen – reception/home office ; high tech prep area; cooking /informal dining. He combined different English woods with concrete; marble with corian and stainless steel ; and they work superbly together .
We love our new kitchen / informal dining area and it continues to bring us pleasure after 18 months. It unquestionably has the WOW factor and is admired by all our friends. It also has fantastic storage capacity and all the modern gadgets. We were very involved at all stages and it was a pleasure to work with Johnny and his team. We visited the company making the units and were very impressed with the standard of craftsmanship. All of his team are first class artisans”
Noel Wright Architects
Green Building in Eastleigh.
“We hired Noel Wright from Noel Wrights Architects in March 2012. We loved the look of his previous work and believed he would be a great fit for us. Our project was not straightforward and we needed someone who had the vision and skill to make the best possible renovation of a very old property on a limited budget. We found Noel to be a highly creative architect with a great eye for detail, who at the same time had a very practical and pragmatic approach to design. He was able to steer us diplomatically through the whole process, which turned out to be the creation of a wonderful family home - that didn't break the bank! When I compare notes with friends over their architect and builder experiences I feel very smug indeed that we made a great choice and I would never hesitate to work with Noel again.”
Forest Architecture
Green Building in Eastleigh.
“Natalie not only had the vision to create a unique design for our extension, she has been helpful in every way. She has an extensive repertoire of ideas which has helped us through. She has always been attentive & helpful with all issues of the project. She has always been there to listen to issues & help sort. We would highly recommend her.”
CFW Architects
Green Building in Eastleigh.
“CFW were outstanding taking our project, which already had planning permission granted, through RIBA stages 4A to 7. Philip was very helpful and hands on, providing expertise and insight throughout the technical design, tendering process, the actual build, then snagging through to completion. I highly recommend CFW and wouldn't hesitate to use them again in the future.”
Matthew Clay Architects Ltd
Green Building in Eastleigh.
“Matt was calm and capable. I approached him to help with designs for a side return extension in a fairly typical, slightly wonky victorian terrace.
He did a great job of explaining things and talking me through what was possible vs what was viable! He was also responsive to queries and completed work in good time.
The outcome has been a space transformed from dark and pokey to light and open. He suggested sliding doors instead of bifolds to optimise the view and I love them. Doing an extension can be stressful but it has transformed how I live. Matt's design - optimising light via a large panel of glass in the ceiling and big sliding doors makes such a difference despite being north facing.”
