“After finding him on Yelp with good reviews, we had BVM design a 655 sq. ft. residence that incorporated a pre existing building. He was responsive to emails and calls and gave us a surprising number of designs. He was able to give us exactly what we wanted, despite our ideas being communicated rather poorly over the many many interruptions of small children. It was not cheap, but I don't really know what others charge. Also, when our general contractor saw the plans he said "boy, this guy knows how to draw!!" Overall, he was really easy to work with, gave us exactly what we wanted, and impressed other professionals in his field. What more could you want??”

“I strongly recommend Jeanne Liem. My company worked with her on designing and building-out residential projects. Jeanne has a terrific aesthetic and is really hard working. She took the time to truly understand what we wanted and made our vision a reality. From beginning until the end, she has been very professional, responsive, proactive, and being able to come up with multiple solutions to simple and complex problems we encountered during construction. Their design elements are so elegant and well matched with our concept that exceeded my expectations in many ways. Also, they did all those within the budget requirements. They were flexible in all the areas we worked. She made everything so easy and smooth. I do not even want to imagine what would happen if we have taken another route instead of working with her.”

Architects Magnus

“Architects Magnus provided architectural services in connection with the ground-up construction of an approximately 3,500 sq. ft. home in San Diego, CA. The husband and wife team of Hector and Pam Magnus provided excellent insight, progressive design and demeanor throughout the project. They worked well with city officials and construction professionals in order to effectively and efficiently work through various issues. They met all design related deadlines and completed their services within the budget. Their considerable experience and knowledge was invaluable when it came to the implementation of a custom design with the maximum use of conventional construction techniques that were more cost effective than custom fabrication alternatives. Some examples include the use of stucco without color additives in order to mimic poured-in-place concrete and the use of an inexpensive torch-down roof membrane so that more of the roofing budget could be used for an inlaid tongue and groove ceiling made from sustainably grown hardwoods. This balanced approach between design and construction allowed us to maximize our budget by emphasizing those components of the home that give us the most enjoyment. Perhaps most importantly, Hector and Pam understand people. They challenged our notions of what our home could be in a manner that gained our trust and allowed for a far more dynamic and interesting living environment than we otherwise would have had. The end result far exceeded our expectations. Thanks to Hector and Pam, the house, affectionately known as the “Jewell Box”, is not just a custom floor plan, but truly a custom home with unique elements designed to make the most of our living environment within the confines of applicable building codes, coastal commission requirements and our budget. We love living in the Jewell Box that Architects Magnus envisioned for us.”

“Mark Christopher is an excellent architect. He has been working with us on creative designs for our home remodel in the San Diego area. Mark is personable and easy to work with. He is a great communicator and listener and he strives to design in accordance with our lifestyle and our architectural tastes. He pays meticulous attention to details and comes up with creative ideas that are a joy to behold. Although we have not yet been through the construction process, we are familiar with Mark's work as we have seen the beautiful results of his work in the home our one of our neighbors.”

“I had the good fortune to be referred to Steve/Ergo Architecture through a series of two of his architect peers. On the technical front, Steve has unique experience (professional and personal) with homes set on steep lots, something well suited to San Diego's canyon homes. Paired with this is a sharp understanding of San Diego building and planning sensitivities. The above alone would qualify Steve for my project. Going beyond the technical, Steve is a gifted designer with a keen sense of space, materials and practicality - a unicorn. His ideas for the addition to my MCM preserved the existing elements in a delightful and thoughtful manner. He's a bright individual with palatable enthusiasm for his work and a collaboration delight. I'm working away from San Diego now and am looking forward to starting our project upon my return. It should be noted that the cobbler's children and bus driver's holiday are not the case for Ergo. Their best project is Steve's house, it's a project to behold.”

“Ashley and I were brought together by our common client to architect/design (Ashley) and remodel (TaylorPro Design and Remodeling) a kitchen/dining/living room in University City. Often a combination of this type breeds a power struggle that is hard to manage as differences in design/construction/management styles clash. In this case, Ashely and I started working together like we have be successful partners for years. Finding a designer that puts the customer first and works as a team with all parties is, in my opinion, hard to find. Experience and a style beyond their vision are what clients pay for. Ashley has this in spades along with the practical part of construction that makes her invaluable to the contractor. I typically have to spend a lot of time changing a designer's design so that it can be built. Ashley was always a step ahead of me and she made my job easy. Ashley is a diamond in the rough find of a designer. I look forward to our next project. Kerry Taylor, TaylorPro Design and Remodeling”
