Line of sight is getting higher and higher in demand, and while normally we might have knocked down the wall separating the dining area and kitchen, the small alcove makes for such a unique feature that we simply couldn't bring ourselves to do it. This adds such a prestige to an otherwise bland wall that would require intensive decoration to bring together.
