Urban Jungle

Our client was looking for a peaceful garden retreat to complement their contemporary garden studio. We suggested creating rooms within the garden; one for relaxing, the other for entertaining. To divide the rooms and give the impression of a real escape, we also suggested a tropical theme – no easy task in a north-facing garden! Bamboos, tree ferns and phormiums and a relaxing water feature form the structure of the garden with perennials such as geums in the sunnier spots providing strong colour bursts that allowed the garden to also be enjoyed when viewed from the various floors of the house. Colours for the studio, slatted privacy panels and planters were carefully chosen to act as a backdrop to these colours and to give the space the contemporary feel that the client was looking for.
