1. Who lives here: Natasha Shah, founder and principal designer of Between Walls, and her husbandLocation: PuneSize: 215 square metres (2314 square feet)Photos by: Maulik Patel, Inclined StudioThis two-bedroom apartment narrates the tale of the couple falling in love in London city. While in some areas, Natasha indirectly recreated a particular memory from the couple’s past (like staging a bench scene at the entrance and replicating typical European café seating in the balcony), in other areas she used a more direct approach to represent their good times together (by hanging up their travel pictures to mark a feature wall in the living room).Since the duo loves to cook and entertain, a seamless visual and physical flow is developed between the open-plan living, dining and kitchen areas. Bold patterns from the kitchen flooring, grid partition wall and marble accents offer character, while a blue-and-white palette ties the whole space together.
Embrace open layoutsDesigner Natasha Shah consolidates the living, dining and cooking spaces into one sprawling area without the restriction of walls, to keep conversations flowing in a bright, sociable environment. In this open-plan layout, two different flooring styles demarcate the dining and kitchen zones. While the kitchen features an abstract black-and-white pattern, the dining area is anchored with dark flooring.
“The dining table has seating for eight and is right between the living area and the kitchen. The wall beside the window is decorated with art from The Plated Project.
