Stoner Mansion French Bedroom
This room was published in Better Homes and Garden Special International Edition. The scheme started with the Cowton and Tout sunflower fabric. I loved the way it is a line drawing (toile of sorts) with soft colors applied. The yellow/gold inspired the soft faux “leather” application on the walls by Bill Riley. The wonderful original tudor windows called for custom rods (by Walter Scadden) and wonderfully woven fabric also by C&T. The flat woven wool carpet by Stark added a French inspired Auboson look.
The chairs are a reuse of 1950’s chairs in the toile-ish fabric, but quilted. We imported the French antiques and had the large painting in the applied moldings commissioned to complete a guest bedroom for this home. The goal was to have our guests feel like they were royalty comfortably staying in an updated French country manor. The weight of the architecture and the coordinating surroundings created an unmistakable “ahhh, I could stay here forever feel” from everyone that entered.
