What Houzz contributors are saying:
How do you divide your roles and how do you complement each other?Puru: I oversee the showroom and the interior design studio in Gurgaon while Brian runs the factory in Greater Noida. Kanu: Puru and I focus on our architecture and interior design projects. Our designs for furniture and cabinetry, especially, tend to be more responsive to spatial and client needs.Brian: While our locations can make it seem as though we inhabit separate spheres, in reality we collaborate very closely on every aspect of the design process.
Lead with a focal pieceIf you want a dash of drama in your interiors, try leading with a large focal piece in the living room and building the rest of the decor around it. In this space, the artwork introduces the rustic wildlife theme, which is reinforced by the rich, earthy colours of the upholstery. The wooden wall merges with the backdrop of the frameless painting, making it appear larger and more powerful. The minimalist branch-style lamp adds the final finishing touch.
13. Posh and boldThis living room designed by Urbanist shows how dark colours can be brought into a living space in just the right way. The black and grey of the sofa are balanced by a wooden backdrop. The golden-yellow armchair with the muted mauve quilted table punctuate the overall darker tone and provide a respite from it. It’s the colours and the luxurious fabrics that give this room a plush look.
1. As a statement pieceIf you are someone who doesn’t like to keep too many accessories in a room, all you need is a stylish lamp that can take on the role of a statement piece. A uniquely designed lamp such as this one with a branch-like base and a black shade works perfectly as the solo decorative installation in the room.
