House 12, Shenton Park

Our client’s brief for this park-side lot was for a Moroccan style house that would showcase their eclectic and extensive collection of art, furniture and books acquired over many years. Incorporated are many of the familiar architectural details and features of Moroccan architecture that are equally well suited to the Australian climate, such as thick walls, small openings, courtyards and shade-screens. A series of indoor and outdoor spaces form an important part of the design allowing light, ventilation and private outdoor spaces. Decorative laser-cut screens are used to diffuse the western sun and provide secure ventilated openings to the front of the property. Photography by Andrew Pritchard Photography
