Historic Restoration

Transformed from an unfortunate 70s orange and gold throughway to the pool and backyard gardens, this area now serves dual purposes as a charming potting area for arranging flowers cut from the garden as well as a convenient service kitchen for frequent outdoor entertaining. Hidden in the custom cabinets are a bar refrigerator, ice maker, dishwasher and plenty of storage for outdoor dining essentials. The hanging cabinet was repurposed from the home's original butler's pantry and fitted with open corner cabinets and new crown moulding. The design for the cabinetry color and faux bamboo chinoiserie detail was taken directly from the Scalamandre wallpaper. The existing concrete floor was painted a smokey gray and sealed for practicality. A blue ceiling balances the floor and is an attractive counterpoint to the floor.
