Hardie siding and new front porch in Birmingham

James Hardie siding with a new front porch designed and built for a dramatic improvement in the home's curb-appeal. Existing porch was an elevated concrete slab with that infamous green indoor-outdoor carpeting! It had two stairways, one to the front and one to the driveway (see attached before picture) The existing home had been sided by the previous owners with vinyl siding in the 80's, which effectively did a good job of hiding the fact that this home had had 4 separate additions built onto it, since it was originally built as a much smaller bungalow in the 1950's in the downtown Birmingham area. Much attention was paid to the window surrounds of every window around the home. Much attention was paid to the design of the new front porch. And finally, but not insignificantly, the siding color selection was a custom Cape Cod, Massachusetts "Cape Cod Blue" color choice. The homeowners had grown up in Cape Cod and were very excited to select a color that "took them right back to the Cape."
